-.- KARAMJIT SINGH , J. (Oral) Short reply by way of affidavit of Satinderpal Singh, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Security, Punjab in compliance with orders dated 14.7.2022 on behalf of respondents No.1 to 6 filed, and the same is ordered to be taken on record.

The State counsel while referring to the said reply submits that at present there is no specific threat input to the petitioner as has been alleged by the petitioner in the present petition and as such the petitioner is not entitled to get any security.

The counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner while refuting aforesaid assertions made by the State counsel submits that the petitioner is GAURAV SOROT 2022.11.11 10:29 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order, judgment and documents.

( 2 ) CRWP-5757-2022 Bureau Chief of TV-24 Channel and he use to cover stories relating to nexus between drug peddlers and politicians and as such he is under constant threat and earlier he was provided security but the same was withdrawn during the assembly election of 2022 without issuing him any notice regarding the same. The counsel for the petitioner further submits that the petitioner is in dire need of security due to his profession. The counsel for the petitioner while referring to the aforesaid short reply submits that in the said short reply it has been clearly mentioned that regarding security a letter has been sent to SHO, Police Post, Phase-6, that whenever there is any threat to the life and property of the petitioner, security is to be ensured by providing immediate police assistance.

In view of the above, the present petition is hereby disposed of with direction to respondent No.4 to review the case of the present petitioner and if any threat perception is found then he be provided appropriate security as per the situation so warrants.

Needful be done within next 15 days of the receipt of copy of this order.
