(Oral) Petitioner No.1-Salima who was married to respondent No.8-Taj Mohd. is stated to be in a 'live-in' relationship with petitioner No.2 Jamil Khan, as her husband was a drunkard and used to give beatings to her. Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that the 'live-in' relationship of the petitioners is not acceptable to the private respondents who have been issuing threats to them to cause harm to them. Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and while refraining from making any expression as regards the veracity of the averments made in the petition, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e.

Superintendent of Police, Panchkula, to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 22.7.2021 (Annexure P-3) in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is any genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondents No.4 to PANKAJ KAKKAR 2021.07.

- 2 - CRWP-6985-2021 (O&M) 9, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners. A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 22.7.2021 be sent to Superintendent of Police, Panchkula (respondent No.2), so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
