RAMENDRA JAIN, J. (ORAL) Through this petition under Section 439 Cr.P.C. prayer has been made for grant of regular bail to the petitioner in a case arising from FIR No.88 dated 05.07.2018 registered under Sections 307, 324, 323, 148, 149 IPC and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, 1959 at Police Station 'B' Division, District Amritsar.
Learned counsel for the petitioner, placing on record statements of complainant Arminderjit Singh and eye-witness Jugraj Singh as PW1 and PW2, respectively, submits that they have not supported the prosecution case. Petitioner is in custody since 12.07.2018. Conclusion of trial may take a sufficient long time. No useful purpose would be served by detaining the petitioner in jail any more.
On the other hand, learned State counsel vehemently opposed the grant of regular bail to the petitioner.
