The present contempt proceedings were lodged pursuant to an order dated 17.7.2014 passed by a Single Bench of this Court in CRWP No.834 of 2013 titled as Balwant Singh vs. State of Punjab wherein apart from registration of FIR against SHO Sukhwinder Singh and ASI Avtar Singh i.e. the present contemnors, the matter was also ordered to be placed before Hon'ble the Chief Justice for initiating contempt proceedings. Vide order dated 4.9.2014, Hon'ble the Chief Justice had ordered for initiating the same. 2.

However, today vide separate judgment passed in LPA No.1718 of 2014 - Avtar Singh vs. State of Punjab and another, the order dated 17.7.2014 of Single Bench pursuant to which the contempt proceedings had been initiated, Kamal Kumar 2018.06.08 10:09 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
