The petitioners have filed this writ petition seeking quashing of initiation of the proceedings by respondent No.2 against them under Section 20 of the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994. The petitioners claim that they were elected Panches of the Gram Panchayat, Jhanduke, Block Sardulgarh, District Mansa. They claim that since they belong to Akali Political party, therefore, they are being harassed. It has been pointed out that the elected Sarpanch-Sukhdev Singh was suspended and Gurjant Singh was nominated as the authorized Panch. He submits that the suspension of Sukhdev Singh has been set aside by the Court in Sukhdev Singh v. State of Punjab and Others (Civil Writ Petition No. 37420 of 2019, decided on 17.12.2020). Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, this Court is of the considered view that the present writ petition can be disposed of by directing respondent No.2 to reconsider the entire matter in view of the order passed DEEPAK KUMAR BHARDWAJ 2021.01.29 13:55 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
