The present criminal writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution for issuance of a writ in the nature of habeas corpus directing the official respondents to get released detenue-Jyoti, daughter of the petitioner, from the alleged illegal detention of respondent No.4.

Vide order dated 28.07.2021, this Court directed respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar (Mohali), to depute a Gazetted Officer, to visit the house of respondent No.4 and make an inquiry as to whether the detenue was residing there with her own consent or had been detained by respondent No.4 illegally or forcibly. In compliance thereof, status report dated 15.11.2021, by way of affidavit of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (City-I), District SAS Nagar, Mohali, on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3, has been filed in the Registry. The same is taken on record.

CRWP-7012-2021 /2/ Alongwith the status report, statement of the detenue has been annexed as Annexure R-3/T. In her statement, the detenue stated that in the month of February, she left the home of her own free will and had gone away with respondent No.4; that on 16.08.2021, she solemnized marriage with him of her own wish, and that she does not want any action to be taken against him.

Faced with this situation, learned counsel for the petitioner does not want to press the present petition.

Dismissed being not pressed.
