The present petition in the shape of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed seeking direction to the respondents to carry out and complete the ongoing road construction/relaying work on Dhurkot Road and Chappar Road, Ahmedgarh, in a proper scientific and technically sound manner in accordance with established engineering standards and Government Notification dated 04.10.2021, issued by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayats, ensuring proper road level, surface treatment and drainage so as to prevent water logging and inconvenience to residents. Further direction is sought for an independent technical inspection of the work with reference to prescribed parameters, followed by necessary corrective and preventive measures to safeguard the life, property and health of PREETI 2026.04.23 15:46 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

-2the local residents and restraining them from carrying out any further construction activity at the site etc.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioners have already made legal notice dated 04.04.2026 (Annexure P-4) to the respondents but the same is yet to be decided. 3.

Mr. Salil Sabhlok, Senior DAG, Punjab, on advance notice entered appearance on behalf of State-respondents. He submits that he has no objection if this petition is disposed of with a direction to respondents/competent authorities to decide the aforesaid legal notice dated 04.04.2026 (Annexure P-4) submitted by the petitioners. 4.

Accordingly, this petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent No.2 to look into the grievance(s) raised by the petitioners in their aforesaid legal notice dated 04.04.2026 (Annexure P-4) and decide the same by passing a speaking order and communicating the same to the petitioners within a period of 30 days from the date of production of copy of this order before the respondents.
