By this common order, two writ petitions, the details of which have been given in the heading, are being disposed of as both the petitions involve the same question of law on similar facts. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners argues that the reservation of Wards in favour of members belonging to reserved category has been done ignoring the actual population of the reserved category members in the particular Ward concerned for the upcoming Election of Municipal Corporation.

Mr. Jastej Singh, learned Additional Advocate General, Punjab, who is present in the Court, accepts notice on behalf of the respondentsState. 5.

Learned State counsel, on the instructions from Mr. Navkiran Singh, Senior Law Officer, Local Government, Punjab and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy Director, Local Government, Punjab, submits that in case anyone has any grievance with regard to the notification issued by which, the reservation of certain Wards has been done in favour of members belonging to various categories including Scheduled Castes, Backward Class or the Women, and any representation is filed by persons concerned raising said claim, the same will be considered and appropriate order on the said representation will be passed before the Elections are notified to be held but such representation should be received by the Department concerned within a period of three days from today. 6.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the present writ petitions may kindly be disposed of having been not pressed any further with liberty to the petitioners to file a representation keeping in view the undertaking given by the learned State counsel. 7.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that in case any adverse order is passed, liberty be given to the petitioners to raise the claim before the appropriate forum in accordance with law. 8.

Ordered accordingly.

In view of the above, the present writ petitions are disposed of with liberty as prayed for.
