In the present petition, the petitioner has sought issuance of direction to the trial Court to expedite the trial in cases mentioned in para No.2 of the petition, stating that he is 106 years of age, suffering from various ailments and is not in a position to contest these cases for long duration.

Report from the courts concerned has been called. The reason given for the slow progress in the cases does not seem to be convincing. Every litigant has a right to get his case decided promptly and expeditiously.

Keeping in view the fact that petitioner is a senior citizen aged more than 100 years, the trial courts should have been sensitive to that fact and decide his cases promptly, since directions have been Banita Chugh 2017.08.18 12:42 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document chandigarh

CRM-M No. 6165 of 2017 -2issued by this Court on administrative side to deal with cases of senior citizens on preferential basis.

Therefore, though the petitioner has not come present in court today and was not present on the last date of hearing, but a direction needs to be given to the trial Court to dispose of cases of the petitioner promptly by giving short adjournments, preferably within a period of 6 months from date of receipt of the order in the Court. Ordered accordingly.

The petition stands disposed of accordingly.

Registry is directed to send a copy of the order to the trial Court through District and Sessions Judge, Hoshiarpur, immediately for compliance.
