The instant petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking a writ of mandamus for directing respondent No.3, to decide the statutory appeal dated 03.10.2023 (Annexure P-3) filed by petitioner, against the punishment order dated 24.08.2023 (Annexure P-2), passed by respondent No.2, imposing the punishment of recovery of an amount of Rs.1,46,43,784/-, on the petitioner, in a time bound manner. Further prayer has been made to issue direction to the respondents, not to effect recovery of Rs.1,46,43,784/-, from the petitioner in pursuance to the punishment order, till decision of statutory appeal. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner, at this stage, confines his prayer to the extent of issuing direction to the Appellate Authority to consider and decide the statutory appeal dated 03.10.2023 (Annexure P-3) filed by the petitioner under Regulation 15 of the Punjab Civil MOHD YAKUB 2024.05.20 18:17 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh

Ms. Mona Yadav, Advocate for Mr. Ranjit Singh Kalra, Advocate, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents and submits that the statutory appeal filed by the petitioner shall be decided expeditiously.

I have heard learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the record of the case.

Without going into the merits of the case at this stage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3, to consider and decide the statutory appeal dated 03.10.2023 (Annexure P-3) filed by the petitioner within a period of 03 months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
