MEENAKSHI I. MEHTA (ORAL ) By way of the instant petition, the petitioner has sought the indulgence of this Court for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing respondents No.1 and 2 to protect his own life and personal liberty as well as of his family members as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.3 to 9 who have been nurturing a grudge against him due to some dispute over the cancellation of the allotment of the plots in the village. It has also been mentioned in the petition that the petitioner has already moved a representation (Annexure P-7) on 14.08.2020 to respondent No.2 in this regard.

Notice of motion to respondents No.1 and 2 only. At the asking of the Court, Mr. Ranvir Singh Arya, Addl. AG, Haryana, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 and 2. Heard.

of a direction to respondent No.2 to take appropriate action on the said representation (Annexure P-7) so far as it pertains to the prayer of the petitioner for protection of his own as well as his family members' life and liberty only.

Learned counsel for the State has no objection for the same. Accordingly, respondent No.2-Station House Officer, Police Station, Sohna, District Gurugram, is hereby directed to look into the said representation (Annexure P-7) so far as it pertains to the request/prayer of the petitioner for protection of his own as well as his family members' life and liberty only and in case, it is found that the petitioner and his family members' genuinely deserve any protection, then to take appropriate action in accordance with law. However, it is clarified that this order shall not be construed to be a shield to the petitioner against any proceedings nor shall be taken to be an expression of the opinion of this Court on the merits of any litigation, initiated or sought to be initiated by any competent Authority/person on account of the facts and circumstances, as narrated in representation Annexure P-7 and permissible under any relevant provisions of law. The petition stands disposed of.
