(through V.C.) **** HARSIMRAN SINGH SETHI , J. (ORAL) The present appeal has been filed against the order dated 02.04.2026 passed by the learned Single Judge in CWP-6345-2026 by which the direction was given to the State to hold the election of NRI Sabha Punjab as expeditiously as possible.

Learned counsel for the appellant submits that the same should be held immediately rather than before 31.12.2026 by which date it was ordered by the learned Single Judge to conclude the elections. 3.

Mr. Ferry Sofat, Addl. Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondent-State.

We have heard learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the record with their able assistance.

It may be noticed that there are lot of members in the NRI Sabha, who are also to be given a chance to come to India so to vote in the election process. KUMARI SAPNA 2026.04.23 19.23 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

LPA-1122-2026 Due publicity and prior intimation has been given so that the voters are present in India for voting. Further, the NRIs usually come to India in months of in winter as, the period of summer is spent by them outside India hence, once the State has already undertaken before this Court to get the elections concluded before 31.12.2026, the same need not to be interfered so as to hold an election at an early date.

No ground is made out for any interference by this Court. 8.

The present appeal stands dismissed.
