Gurdeep Kaur (34 years) and Harnek Singh (40 years), the petitioners before this Court claim themselves to be of marriageable age. As per the pleadings, petitioner No.1 was married to Darshan Singh Kalwan Singh Mangat, who expired on 02.05.2021 and his death certificate is annexed as Annexure P-6. Petitioner No.2 was married to Varinder Kaur and his marriage ended in divorce by mutual consent, vide decree, Annexure P-7. They have pleaded that their second marriage is against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 7 and seek protection to their lives and liberty. They apprehend danger from respondents No.4 to 7. CRWP No.7255 of 2021 {2} marriage certificate and photographs, Annexures P-3 and P-4, respectively, evidencing their marriage. The petitioners have submitted a representation, Annexure P-5 to Senior Superintendent of Police, District Patiala. Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, the petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners, Annexure P-5 and grant them protection, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
