PP for NCB-respondent. *** Learned counsel for the petitioner states that he be permitted to withdraw the present petition but a direction be issued to the trial Court to expedite the trial.
On being asked, learned Senior panel counsel has informed that charge is yet to be framed in this case and proceedings in the case are held up since the accused were insisting that charge be framed against them while they are physically present in the Court and not through Video Conferencing. Now physical hearings in the Courts at District level have resumed completely, the trial Court may summon the accused on the next date of hearing stated to fixed as 16.3.2021 and thereafter fix short dates for recording statements of prosecution witnesses. Every endeavor should be made to conclude the prosecution evidence within 6 months from the date of framing of charge.
