On asking of the Court, Ms. Ashima Mor, Additional Public Prosecutor, U.T. Chandigarh accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3.

Both the petitioners are present in the Court and are identified by their counsel.

Petitioners have sought protection of their lives and liberty, inter alia, taken the plea that petitioner No.2-Sonali is minor and has performed marriage with Sarwan, who is son of petitioner No.1-Ram Rati, whereas respondent No.4 is not accepting their marriage and now they are apprehending danger to their lives and liberty from her. A plea has been taken that petitioner No.2 and Sarwan, son of petitioner No.1 have performed their marriage with free will.

Having considered the submissions made by learned counsel Deepak Kumar Bhardwaj 2017.01.06 13:07 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Criminal Misc. No. M-72 of 2017 counsel for the petitioners and perusal of record, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh (respondent No.2) is directed to look into the matter and issue necessary orders, as warranted by law, so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the lives and liberty of the petitioner No.1-Ram Rati, petitioner No.2-Sonali and her husband Sarwan at the hands of private respondent. However, it is also made clear that this order shall not entitle petitioner No.1 and her son Sarwan for any protection against their arrest or continuance of any criminal proceedings, if they are found involved in the commission of any cognizable offence. In case they had committed any offence, the law will take its own course.

With the above-said observations made and directions issued, the present petition stands disposed of.
