The prayer in the present petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India is for the issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus for directing respondents No.2 to 5 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner as well as his family members from the hands of respondents No.6 and 7, who are continuously threatening the petitioner to kill him and his family members.

The learned counsel for the petitioner contends that that the petitioner and his family members are repeatedly facing threats from respondents No.6 and 7. In fact, respondent No.6 is a resident of Canada, much like the petitioner. Therefore, a representation (Annexure P-2) has been sent to the Incharge NRI Cell, Gurdaspur, Punjab along with a copy to the SSP, District Gurdaspur seeking protection. However, no action has been taken on the said representation. Therefore, appropriate directions be issued by this Court.

The learned State counsel, on the other hand, has referred the speed post receipt (Annexure P-3) to contend that the mobile phone number has been given as '1234567890' and the address is mentioned as 'Civil Lines'. There is no such area in Gurdaspur. Therefore, apparently, the representation has been deliberately sent to the wrong address. 4.

I have heard learned counsels for the parties. 5.

Apparently, the petitioner has sent the representation to the wrong address and has not even correctly set down the mobile phone number of the purported recipient.

In view of the above, I find no merit in the present petition and the same stands dismissed.

All the pending miscellaneous applications, if any, stand disposed of.
