 The present criminal writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuing of direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to protect the life, liberty and property of the petitioner. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner may be provided with adequate security as he gets coercive threat perception from gangster and on one occasion, his premises were attacked and shots were fired thereon.

Mr. Amandeep Singh, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents-State and informs this Court that in the present incident, an FIR has already been registered and action thereon has been taken in accordance with law. He also informs this Court that two security officers have already been appointed for the protection of the petitioner, which is not adequate, as stated by learned counsel for the petitioner.

In view of the above, without commenting on the merits of the case, the present criminal writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3- The Commissioner of Police, Amritsar to re-assess the threat perception and provide adequate security and in case, if the petitioner applies for a firearm licence, the same be considered and disposed of expeditiously. ''
