The petitioners have approached this Court seeking issuance of directions for protection of their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents No.4 to 7.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that while petitioner No.1Gurmeet is aged 20 years and is unmarried, petitioner No.2- Jasso Devi aged 23 years was married to respondent No.4-Sonu Ram but since respondent No.4 was a drunkard and addicted to intoxicants and used to give beatings to her and even other private respondents used to maltreat her, she left her matrimonial home in September 2020 and started residing at her parental home. Learned counsel submits that ever since she left her matrimonial home neither her husband nor anybody else tried to take her back. ( 2 ) CRWP-7351-2021 (O&M) No.2 came in contact with petitioner No.1 and they develop fondness for each other and started residing together in a 'live-in' relationship w.e.f. 2.2.2021 in the house of petitioner No.1 with due permission of parents of petitioner No.2. Learned counsel submits that the aforesaid relationship of the petitioners is not acceptable to the private respondents, who have been threatening to cause harm to them.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and without commenting as regards the sanctity of alleged relationship of the petitioners, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Superintendent of Police, Kaithal to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 28.7.2021 (Annexure P-3) in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is a genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners. 4.
A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 28.7.2021 (Annexure P-3) be sent to respondent No.2-Superintendent of Police, Kaithal so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. 5.
It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not be taken to be any expression as regards the alleged relationship of the petitioners and shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
