The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to Respondents to correct death certificate dated 27.11.2021 of her deceased husband. 2.

The petitioner is widow of deceased Ex-Subedar Satnam Singh who died on 30.10.2021. The deceased was enrolled in Indian Army on 04.09.1978 and was discharged from service on 31.05.2000. He was issued Discharge Card No. 20772 and Pension Payment Order No. S/024560/2000(Army) in which petitioner was mentioned as his wife. He passed away on 30.10.2021. She submitted the death certificate before Defence Pension Disbursing Officer, Hisar who vide letter dated 10.10.2023 informed her that death certificate notifies private respondent No.5-Veerpal Kaur as wife of the deceased and family pension cannot be DEEPAK BISSYAN 2026.04.27 16:28 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Sub-Registrar (Birth & Death)- respondent No. 3 in reply to legal notice dated 31.01.2026 informed that private respondent No.5 was mentioned as wife of deceased on the basis of information furnished by concerned hospital at the time of registration. Entry in the register is made on the basis of information received from hospital/authorized informant.

Learned counsel for the respondent No.3 submits that respondent has relied upon information received from Hospital. They cannot travel beyond the information supplied by Hospital. 4.

The grievance raised by petitioner needs to be resolved at the earliest. There seems some clerical or writing mistake in the record of Hospital. As per memo of parties, respondent No.5-Veerpal Kaur is wife of Jagir Singh whereas petitioner is claiming herself widow of Late Satnam Singh. Death certificate in question is of Late Satnam Singh. 5.

To resolve the matter, this Court finds it appropriate to direct respondent No.3-Sub-Registrar (Birth & Death) to issue notice to respondent No.5 and seek her opinion. If respondent No.5 does not lay her claim or does not come forward, the record as prayed by petitioner may be rectified. Let the needful be done within eight weeks from today. 6.
