Through the instant writ petition, prayer is made for issuance of directions upon the official respondents to renew the registration certificate of the petitioner's scooter, make: Bajaj Chetak. 2.

Succinctly stated; the grievance sketched in the instant writ petition is that, the petitioner was allotted Registration No. PAP-100 in respect of his scooter (supra) by the Regional Transport Authority, Patiala. The petitioner got his registration certificate renewed on number of occasions. However, in the year 2019, when the petitioner visited the authority concerned for renewal of his registration certificate, he came to know that the said registration number has been transferred in favour of the respondent No.4, who is using the said registration number to ply his Honda City car.

Today, the learned State counsel has filed a short reply dated 03.03.2025, on affidavit of Naman Marken, PCS, Regional Transport Officer, Patiala, which is taken on record.

What emerges from perusal of the short reply is that, the mistake (supra) has been rectified inasmuch as consequent upon the authority concerned finding the registration number (supra) to have been wrongly transferred in favour of the respondent No.4, a speaking order dated 28.10.2024 has been passed, thereby cancelling the transfer (supra) and directing the respondent No.4 to surrender the registration certificate. 5.

The learned counsel for the respondent No.4 informs this Court that, the respondent No.4 has already surrendered the registration certificate (supra) before the authority concerned. 6.

The learned State counsel also submits that, in case the petitioner approaches the Regional Transport Authority/Officer, Patiala, for renewal of his scooter's registration number, but, by fulfilling all the requisite formalities, the latter would make a decision in accordance with law.

In view of the above, no further direction is required to be passed. Therefore, the instant writ petition is closed. 8.

Disposed of accordingly.
