The petitioners seek issuance of a direction to the official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents, having married against the wishes of their families.

Pursuant to furnishing an advance copy of petition to the State, Ms. Swati Batra, DAG, Punjab has put in appearance and who, upon instructions from ASI Rajinder Kumar, has informed that a brief inquiry was conducted and statements of both the petitioners were recorded, who have both stated that as of now they do not apprehend any kind of threat to their lives and liberty. 3.

In view of the aforestated position, the instant petition is disposed of as having been rendered infructuous.
