The petitioners are working as the Pump Operators in the Department of Water Supply and Sanitation, Punjab. They pray for the issuance of the writ in the nature of mandamus to consider and promote them to the post of Junior Engineers.

The learned counsel representing the petitioners relies upon the judgment (Annexure P10) in Saurabh Aggarwal v. State of Punjab and Others (Civil Writ Petition No. 2388 of 2022, decided on 16.01.2023). 3.

On the other hand, the learned State counsel submits that the writ petition is premature as pursuant to the directions issued in Saurabh Aggarwal's case (supra), the State is already taking the steps for implementation of the judgment.
