(Oral) Present petition has been filed by the petitioner with a prayer that his claim for promotion as Social Education and Panchayat Officer be considered by the respondent authorities.

Learned counsel for the petitioner argues that under the rules governing the service, the petitioner was eligible for promotion as Social Education and Panchayat Officer but the said benefit has not been extended to him without any valid justification. Notice of motion.

Mr. T.P.S. Chawla, learned Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, who has also joined the proceedings through video conference, keeping in view the service of advance copy of petition, accepts notice on behalf of respondent-State. Learned State counsel submits that respondent No. 1 has no objection in deciding the legal notice dated 08.08.2020 (Annexure P-5) in a time bound manner by passing an appropriate speaking order. In view of the request made, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case or the claim being made by the petitioner, respondent No. 1 is directed to decide the legal notice dated 08.08.2020 (Annexure P5) by passing a speaking order within a period of three months. Present writ petition stands disposed of.
