(proceedings conducted through video conferencing) ***** GURVINDER SINGH GILL, J.(Oral) The petitioner, who retired as a Senior Assistant from Punjabi University, Patiala, seeks step up of pay at par with his juniors belonging to Scheduled Caste category on the ground that he had 'caught up' as per the 'catch up' rule of seniority and, as such, was entitled to the pay as was being drawn by his junior employees, who had otherwise been promoted earlier on account of reservation.

The learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the Government of Punjab had also issued instructions in this regard on 14.3.2017 (Annexure P-6) and that although the petitioner had served legal notice dated 19.6.2020 (Annexure P-12) but to no avail. Notice of motion.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and without commenting anything on merits of the case, the petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to pass an appropriate order in respect of the claim raised by the petitioner in his legal notice dated 19.6.2020 (Annexure P-12) within a period of 3 months from receipt of copy of this order. It is further directed that in case anything is found due to be paid to the petitioner, the same be paid within 3 months thereafter.
