The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondent No.5 to cancel one out of two Permanent Account Numbers (for short, 'PAN').

The petitioner by mistake has got issued two PANs from income tax department. She is working with Punjab Police. On account of two PANs, the respondent-State has withheld her salary. 3.

Mr. Sidhu, Advocate submits that the petitioner vide letter dated 19.02.2024 requested Income Tax Office, Gurdaspur to cancel her one PAN but to no avail. She has served legal notice dated 18.04.2024 Anju Goel 2024.05.24 15:25 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

CWP-12487-2024 (Annexure P-11), however, respondent has not paid heed to said notice. Resultantly, the petitioner is not getting salary from her parent department.

Mr. Aman Dhir, DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondent-State and Ms. Urvashi Dhugga, Advocate, accepts notice on behalf of respondent No.5 and waives service. 6.

With consent of learned counsel for the parties, the case is taken up for final disposal.

Ms. Urvashi Dhugga, Advocate submits that the competent authority would look into grievance of the petitioner and do the needful subject to any dues pending against her within two months from today. 8.
