  ***** AMOL RATTAN SINGH, J. (ORAL) By this petition, the petitioner seeks a writ in the nature of habeas corpus to release the (alleged) detenue, Gurpeet Kaur d/o late S. Sukhwinder Singh, who is alleged to have been detained in Police Station, Zirakpur, illegally, by respondents no.4 and 5.

Notice of motion having been issued in this petition on 02.09.2020, thereafter counsel for the petitioner had been seeking adjournments upon a status report having been filed by the respondent State. Today, Mr. Dinesh Kumar Parjapati, Advocate, appears for the petitioner and has filed a power of attorney executed in his favour by him, and submits that the petitioner does not wish to pursue the petition any further. The power of attorney seems to have been signed by the same person as had executed the affidavit dated 02.09.2020 which accompanies with the petition, the petition.
