Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that although the petitioners who are working as Lectures/Assistant Professor (part time on contractual basis) have been given benefit of revised pay-scales but they have not been granted Dearness Allowance for the period of 1.1.2006 to 31.7.2009, although it is well-settled that Dearness Allowance is integral part of the pay. It has been submitted that the petitioners had represented in this regard to the respondents vide representation dated 9.3.2020 (Annexure P-6) but to no avail.

Having heard learned counsel for the petitioners and also while refraining from making any expressions as regards merits of the case, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3-Director Public Instructions (Colleges), Government of Punjab to look into the matter and to dispose of representation dated 9.3.2020 (Annexure P-6) in accordance with law expeditiously preferably within a period of 3 months from receipt of copy of this order. It is further clarified that in case anything is found to be due to be paid to the petitioners, the same be paid within 3 months thereafter.
