(proceedings conducted through video conferencing) ***** GURVINDER SINGH GILL, J.(Oral) The petitioner seeks issuance of direction to official respondents to take requisite measures for ensuring protection of his life and liberty and also for protecting his 'Dera' as he apprehends threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.7 and 8 and also at the hands of accused nominated in FIR namely Karanjit Singh, Amrik Singh, Karamvir Singh, Kulwant Singh, Talvinder Singh, Hardeep Singh, Jassa Singh, Harjaap Singh, Sarbat Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Jaskaran Singh and Gagandeep Singh.
The learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that respondents No.7 and 8 alongwith large number of other persons have forcibly taken possession of the Dera and that the petitioner faces imminent PANKAJ KAKKAR 2020.09.08 15:48 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
( 2 ) CRWP-6894-2020 (O&M) threat to his life and liberty and although he had submitted representations dated 24.1.2020 (Annexure P-1), 11.6.2020 (Annexure P-3) and 23.6.2020 (Annexure P-4) but no step has been taken thereupon for the purpose of protecting the life and liberty of the petitioner. Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and while refraining from making any expression as regards veracity of averments made in the petition, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.5-Senior Superintendent of Police, Ropar, District Ropar to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 24.1.2020 (Annexure P-1) and any other subsequent representation as may have been received, in accordance with law expeditiously.
In case it is found that there is any imminent threat to life and liberty of the petitioner or to his Dera, then requisite steps as warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest.
