**** AMIT RAWAL, J. (ORAL) Petitioner has approached this Court under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for quashing the order dated 15.05.2019 (Annexure P-8), whereby the respondents have rejected his claim to join on the post of Special Police Officer (SPO) in Haryana Police under Exserviceman Quota. Learned counsel for the respondents/State submits that in view of status report filed by way of affidavit of Ashok Kumar, I.P.S., Senior Superintendent of Police, Jhajjar, candidature of petitioner has been rejected on the ground that he was convicted for commission of offence punishable under Section 68 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914. For the sake of brevity, para No.1 of the status report, reads as under:- ''1. That the deponent is posted as Senior Superintendent of Police, Jhajjar, and is swearing the present affidavit in his
YOGESH SHARMA 2019.10.29 11:56 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CWP-15083-2019 (O&M) official capacity after having made himself duly conversant with the facts of the case that the present petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking quashing of order Annexure P-8, whereby the deponent had responded to the legal notice got issued by the petitioner through his counsel dated 11.04.2019, conveying that the candidature of the petitioner for the post of Special Police Officer had been considered, however, the same had been rejected as the petitioner stood convicted for commission of offence punishable under Section 68 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914.''
