Prayer in this petition is for issuance of directions to respondents No.1 to 3 to take action against respondents No.4 to 8 with a further prayer to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner at the hands of respondents No.4 to 8. Notice of motion in this case had been issued limited to the question of protection of life and liberty of the petitioner. As per the averments in the petition, an apprehension has been raised by the petitioner that harm may come to him at the hands of respondents No.5 to 8 due to marriage which was solemnized by him with respondent No.4. Respondent No.4, it is stated, is now residing with her parents and is under pressure and duress of respondents No.5 to 8. Keeping in view the above, but without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, it is considered just and expedient to dispose of this petition with a direction to respondent No.2 - Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar, Rural that in case any application is moved by the petitioner displaying any instance giving rise to an apprehension to his life and liberty, the same be looked into by him and necessary action as may be/if any be taken, in accordance with law for the protection of the life and liberty of the petitioner. It is clarified that this order is not a bar or impediment to any proceedings which may already have been initiated/to be initiated against the petitioner in respect to the controversy in hand.
