ARUN MONGA, J. (ORAL) Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners. The contents of the petition along with Annexures thereof have been perused. As per copy of Adhar Card, date of birth of petitioner No.1 is 10.04.1992 (Annexure P-1). The date of birth of petitioner No.2 is 08.06.2002 as per marriage certificate. There is no other proof appended regarding age of petitioner No.2, except her affidavit.
Without going into the merits of legitimacy of the relationship of the petitioners, I am of the view that the petitioners are entitled to seek protection of their life and liberty, even if it was a case of no marriage but merely a consensual relationship.
The present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurdaspur, that the contents of the representation dated 01.09.2020 (Annexure P-5) seeking protection of life and liberty be duly verified and if necessary, requisite steps be taken, in accordance with law for grant of protection of life and liberty to the petitioners. It is clarified that this order shall neither be treated as a stamp of this Court qua SONU 2020.09.10 21:45 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
