(Oral) It is contended that petitioner No.1 - Kulbir Singh, aged about 28 years has married petitioner No.2 - Tamana, aged about 21 years, against the wishes of family members of petitioner No.2, arrayed as respondents No. 4 to 7. Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that private respondents are threatening to interfere in their marital life. Hence, the petitioners are seeking protection in that regard and have approached this Court by way of filing the present petition.

The present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 - Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur, to decide the representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-5) expeditiously and to take necessary steps, if any required, to ensure that lives and liberty of the petitioners are not jeopardized at the hands of respondents No. 4 to 7. However, this direction will not validate the marriage said to have taken place between the petitioners and will have no effect on any civil or criminal action which could be initiated in the matter in accordance with law.
