The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondents to issue him passport.

The petitioner vide application dated 25.12.2023 has applied for passport. He was embroiled in FIR No. 22 dated 02.02.2005, under Sections 279, 337, 338, 427 of IPC, registered at Police Station Bhawanigarh, District Sangrur. He was convicted vide judgment dated 08.01.2011 passed by JMIC, Sangrur and was awarded sentence of six months. 3.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner was convicted in the year 2011 i.e. more than five years back, thus, his case is PARAMJIT KAUR SAINI 2024.05.28 04:43 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Notice of motion.

Ms. Sehej Sandhawalia, Central Government Counsel for Union of India, who on advance notice is present in Court, accepts notice and waives service.

With the consent of both sides, the petition is taken up for final disposal today itself.

Ms.Sehej Sandhawalia, Central Government Counsel submits that petitioner may be directed to appear before the passport authority alongwith requisite documents and the passport authority, thereafter, would pass an appropriate order after considering the afore-stated judgment within two months.

Learned counsel for the petitioner agrees to the aforesaid arrangement.

In the wake of statement of both sides, the petition stands disposed of with a direction to petitioner to appear before the passport authority on 21.06.2024 alongwith requisite documents. On doing so, the passport authority would pass an appropriate order within two months from 21.06.2024.
