***** HARSH BUNGER J. (Oral) Petition herein is, inter alia, seeking a writ in the nature of Mandamus, for directing the respondents to decide the statutory appeal dated 06.03.2026 (Annexure P-6), stated to have been filed by the petitioner under Section 11 of the Passport Act.

Mr. Amit Sharma, Senior Panel Counsel, appears on behalf of the respondents - UOI, in pursuance of the advance copy of paper book having already been supplied to him and submits that in fact, the petitioner had never submitted any application for correction of his name and date of birth in his passport, accordingly, there is no question of filing any appeal therein.

Faced with this situation, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he may be permitted to withdraw the instant petition with liberty to the petitioner to first apply for correction of his name and date of birth in passport before the Passport Authorities as per the prescribed ANKIT 2026.05.07 17:12 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document High Court, Chandigarh
