The petitioner through instant petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking setting aside of award dated 01.08.2019 to the extent Victim Compensation Committee, Fazilka has awarded compensation of Rs.50,000/-.

The petitioner was harassed by one Gurmit Singh against whom an FIR No. 88 dated 27.10.2016 under sections 354-A IPC and section 12 of POCSO Act was lodged at PS Arni Wala. The accused was convicted by learned ASJ, Fazilka vide judgment dated 01.03.2019 and sentenced to 1 year rigorous imprisonment and Rs.50,000/- fine. She filed application before the Committee. The said application was allowed and Committee vide award dated 01.08.2019 awarded compensation of Rs.50,000/-. The petitioner claims that as per Punjab Victim Compensation Scheme, 2017, she is entitled to higher amount of compensation.

On being confronted with order dated 24.03.2026 passed by this Court in CWP No.8862 of 2026 titled as "Jaspreet Singh v. State of Punjab and others", learned counsel for the petitioner expressed her inability to controvert applicability of said order to facts of present case. 4.

In the backdrop, the petition stands dismissed in terms of order dated 24.03.2026 passed by this Court in Jaspreet Singh (supra). 5.
