On 29.4.2026, the following order was passed: 'Apprehending his arrest in FIR No.125 dated 20.08.2025, under Sections 318(4), 61(2) of BNS 2023, registered at Police Station Dhariwal, District Gurdaspur; the petitioner has preferred this petition under Section 482 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 seeking pre-arrest bail. Counsel for the petitioner, inter alia, contends that the FIR in question came to be registered primarily on account of a money dispute, the parties have now entered into a settlement, the petitioner is a man aged 44 years with clean antecedents & is willing to join investigation and cooperate therein as per law. Notice of motion.
On the strength of advance notice; Mr. Baljinder Singh Sra, Additional AG Punjab has entered appearance on behalf of the respondent-State of Punjab. At this juncture; Mr. Gaurav Partap S. Pathania has entered appearance on behalf of respondent Nos.2. Mr. Gurkirat Singh, Advocate has entered appearance on behalf of respondent No.3. They have ratified the aspect of matter having been compromised between the rival parties adjourned to 18.05.2026. The petitioner is directed to appear before the Investigating Officer on 04.05.2026. at 11:00 A.M. in concerned Police Station and join investigation. Learned State counsel (on instructions) submits that pursuant to the order dated 29.4.2026, the petitioner has joined investigation and is no longer required for custodial interrogation.

In view of the above, the instant petition is allowed. Interim order dated 29.4.2026, passed by this Court is made absolute, subject to the conditions as enumerated under Section 482(2) of BNSS. 4.
This order should not be treated as "blanket" order. It will not be read granting petitioner indefinite protection from arrest. It shall be confined to the FIR mentioned ibid and will not operate in respect of any other incident that involves commission of an offence. 5.
Liberty is reserved in favour of State/complainant to move for cancellation/recall of this order in case the petitioner violates any condition stipulated under Section 482(2) of BNSS or upon showing any other sufficient cause.
