Main case The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for seeking directions to official respondents No.2 & 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner at the hands of respondents No.4 to 7.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner contends that the petitioner who is a minor aged 16 years 08 months is being pressurized by the private respondents to solemnize marriage against her wishes to a person much older in age. On refusal of the petitioner to solemnize the marriage, she was given beatings. He further contends that the petitioner is thus a child in need of care and protection of the State. He undertakes that the petitioner shall appear before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Sirsa within a period of 03 days from the receipt of certified copy of this order.

CRWP-4967-2026 (O&M) Committee (CWC), Sirsa, the Committee shall take cognizance of the complaint and pass appropriate orders to ensure safety of life and liberty of the petitioner herein. The Committee shall also be at liberty to pass any such appropriate orders in accordance with provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 for boarding, lodging and safe custody of the minor child, after hearing the respective parties. 3.
