The present petition has been filed by the petitioners under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, seeking a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the claim of the petitioners for extending them the benefit of judgment of this Court in CWP No.15896 of 2023 titled as 'Saurabh Sharma and others v. State of Punjab and others', decided on 13.09.2024, with all consequential benefits as per their entitlement from the due date till the date of actual benefits and release the same along with interest on its delayed payment @ 12% per annum from the due date of their entitlement till the date of actual payment in their favour.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that for redressal of their grievances, the petitioners have also served a legal notice dated 02.02.2026 (Annexure P-9) upon the respondents which is still pending consideration. He further submits that at this stage, the petitioners would be satisfied, if appropriate directions are issued to the VINAY 2026.05.05 10:16 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment

On receipt of advance copy, Mr. Kanav Singla, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. He has no objection to the innocuous prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioners.

I have heard learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the record of the case.

Without going into the merits of the case at this stage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to decide the legal notice dated 02.02.2026 (Annexure P-9) submitted by the petitioners expeditiously, by passing a speaking order after affording an opportunity of hearing to them, preferably within a period of 03 months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
