The petitioners through instant petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India are seeking direction to respondents to conduct fair and detailed inquiry in a time bound manner in terms of their legal notice dated 30.03.2026. They are further seeking action against those who are responsible for embezzlement of government funds. They are also seeking compensation for loss due to heavy rainfall. 2.

The petitioners are farmers engaged in cultivation of their own land situated in Abohar, District Fazilka. They along with other farmers suffered losses due to heavy rainfall in the month of August' 2025. Government of Punjab vide memo dated 12.09.2025 issued direction to Deputy Commissioners for survey of damage to crops. CWP-13228-2026 -2assigned the task of conducting the survey. The aforementioned officials in connivance with non-eligible persons siphoned of the grant leaving out the affected petitioners. The compensation has even been transferred into the accounts of non-existent/dead persons. They preferred representation dated 20.01.2026 to the respondents seeking compensation as well as taking action against the accused persons but the same has not been addressed till date. They served legal notice dated 30.03.2026 upon official respondents but to no avail.

Learned State counsel submits that compete authority would look into the matter and if any substance is found in petitioners' claim, appropriate remedial steps would be taken.

Learned counsel for the petitioners agrees to the aforesaid arrangement.

In the wake of statement of both sides, petition stands disposed of. The Court is sanguine that the authorities would act swiftly. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on merits of the case.
