Petitioner has filed this petition under Section 438 Cr.P.C. for grant of anticipatory bail in case FIR No.2 dated10.01.2018 under Section 13(1)(e) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, registered at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Jalandhar. Notice of motion was issued. Learned State counsel appeared and contested the petition.

I have heard learned counsel for the petitioner as well as learned State counsel and have gone through the record. The allegations, in the nutshell against the petitioner are that during the checking period from 01.07.2007 to 07.11.2017, it was found that total income of present petitioner ASI Ramesh Chander was VINEET GULATI 2018.08.13 12:07 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Chandigarh

CRM No.M-8240 of 2018 -2- `1,25,78,391/- but he spent a sum of `2,76,77,815/-, in other words, he had spent `1,50,99,424/- more than his income.

Keeping in view the allegations against the petitioner, I find that he is required for custodial interrogation and no ground is made to grant benefit of anticipatory bail to him.

Therefore, finding no merit in the present petition, the same is dismissed.

The order dated 27.03.2018 granting interim bail to the petitioner stands vacated.
