**** RAJ MOHAN SINGH, J.(Oral) Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that the petitioners are the parents of Gurjant Singh, who was married to Arvinder Kaur @ Sonu on 01.02.1998. One daughter namely Sukhmani Sandhu took birth out of this wedlock. The relations between Gurjant Singh and Arvinder Kaur @ Sonu became strained and the marriage was ultimately dissolved mutually under Section 13-B of the Hindu Marriage Act on 24.02.2015. Statement of Arvinder Kaur @ Sonu was also recorded in the Court on 14.08.2014 to the effect that she had received lumpsum amount towards whole life maintenance as well as for the minor child in addition to the dowry articles. Nothing was due from Gurjant Singh. The divorce was granted on mutual consent.

CWP-12872-2023 (O&M) Learned counsel for the petitioners further submits that Gurjant Singh was serving in the police department on the post of ASI (Local Rank Department) and was due to retire on 31.08.2031. Unfortunately, he died on 07.05.2022 leaving behind the petitioners to be the only lawful claimants of his retiral dues. The retiral dues of son of the petitioners namely Gurjant Singh are not released despite a legal notice dated 05.04.2023 having been served by the petitioners upon all the respondents.

Notice of motion.

On asking of the Court, Mr. Sanjeev Soni, Addl. A.G., Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. Learned State counsel submits that the legal notice dated 05.04.2023 served by the petitioners upon the respondents shall be considered and decided by the competent authority/respondent No.4 in accordance with law preferably within a period of one month from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.

Disposed of accordingly.
