Petitioner, who is a convict in a case of dacoity, moved a necessary petition before the Jail Superintendent seeking parole to meet his family members.

The reply filed by the State today discloses that the Senior Superintendent of Police, Moga, recommended for releasing the convict on parole. The Senior Superintendent of Police, Sri Amritsar Sahib originally recommended for releasing the convict on parole but thereafter declined to entertain the plea for parole submitted by the convict. It is further found from the reply submitted by the State that the matter has now been referred to the Chief Secretary, Department of Home Affairs (Prisons), Punjab for taking ultimate decision based on the reference made by the District Parvinder Singh 2016.12.15 16:09 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

CRIMINAL WRIT PETITION No. 1498 of 2016 Magistrate, Moga in connection with the parole plea set up by the convict. In the above factual scenario, we direct the Chief Secretary, Department of Home Affairs (Prisons), Punjab to pass an order within 15 days from the date of this order on the plea for parole sought for by the convict under Annexure R-1/T. With the above direction, the Criminal Writ Petition stands disposed of.
