Prayer in the petition is for directing respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners as they apprehend threats from private respondents No.4 to 6, who are against their inter-caste marriage. Notice of motion to respondents No.2 to 3 only, at this stage. On the asking of the Court, Mr. Lalit Kumar Gupta, Additional Public Prosecutor, U.T.Chandigarh, who is available on conference call, accepts notice on their behalf. Upon instructions from ASI Sher Singh, he submits that statement of petitioner No.2/Nitin Kagra has been recorded and he has stated that he does not need any protection.
