(ORAL) The petitioner Ravishu has filed the instant petition under Section 482 of Cr.P.C. for quashing of FIR No. 70 dated 20.11.2020 (Annexure P-1), registered under Sections 406 and 498-A of IPC at Police Station Women Cell, District Jalandhar and all other subsequent proceedings, on the basis of compromise (Annexure P-2) dated 05.07.2022.

The facts of the case are that the complainant Pooja filed written complaint against her husband and in-laws family alleging that she got married with Ravishu on 11.07.2018. After marriage, he went abroad and for few days he used to call her. Thereafter, suddenly he stopped calling her and his behaviour was altogether changed. He started sending wrong comments to her but she did not

-2reacted to the same to save her matrimonial life. Her father-in-law was keeping a bad eye on her. She disclosed this fact to her mother-in-law. She started harassing her on one pretext or the other and further started raising demand for dowry. She was being forced to give divorce to her husband. She was left in parental house fraudulently and when she returned back, they did not open the door. Her fatherin-law refused to keep her in the house. Ultimately, the matter was reported to the police.

The petitioner has filed this petition for the quashing of aforesaid FIR on the basis of compromise. The petitioner and respondent No.2 were directed to appear before the Trial Court/Area Magistrate for recording their statements on the basis of compromise. The detailed report regarding compromise has been received from the Court of Judicial Magistrate Ist Class, Jalandhar dated 15.10.2022. The statement of respondent No.2 has been recorded, where she confirmed the compromise with the petitioner. She confirmed that this compromise has taken place with her free consent and without any pressure. She further submits that she has no objection regarding quashing of FIR.

The petitioner - Ravishu also confirmed this fact in his separate statement. The statement of ASI Mangat Singh, No. 1588, PS Women Cell, Jalandhar is also recorded who further confirmed that the accused is neither involved in any other case nor declared proclaimed offender in any other criminal case.

Therefore, from the report of Judicial Magistrate Ist Class, Jalandhar, it is clear that the compromise has been effected between the parties without any pressure, coercion or undue influence, which is acceptable to both the parties. They have mutually settled all their disputes. They will be able to live in peace and

-3harmony. No purpose would be served with the continuation of criminal proceedings.

Therefore, considering these facts, the petition filed by the petitioner Ravishu is accepted and FIR No. 70 dated 20.11.2020, registered under Sections 406 and 498-A of IPC at Police Station Women Cell, District Jalandhar and the consequential proceedings arising therefrom are quashed.
