PANKAJ JAIN, J. (ORAL) Petitioner prays for issuance of a writ in the nature of certiorari quashing the selection of the last candidates, selected in the General/Open Select list in the Punjab Police Recruitment held for the post of SubInspectors, dated 14th of May, 2023 (Annexure P-4). Further prayer is for issuance of a mandamus in the form of directions to the respondents to appoint the petitioner to the post of Sub-Inspector to the General/Open Category.

At the outset, Mr. Dhir appearing on advance notice on behalf of the respondents-State submits that the claim of the petitioner in the representation (Annexure P-6) is under active consideration of the respondent-Authorities and the same shall be decided within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. Without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case or the claim being made by the petitioner in the present petition, respondents are directed to consider and decide the claim made in the representation filed at the behest of the petitioner dated 21.05.2023 (Annexure P-6), in accordance with law within a period of 4 weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.

In case, the petitioner is found entitled, necessary relief be granted to him within a period of 8 weeks thereafter. However, in case the competent authority is of the opinion that the claim of the petitioner sans merit, the same be adjudicated by passing a speaking order in accordance with law after affording opportunity of hearing to the petitioner within the time period stipulated hereinabove.

Writ petition is disposed off accordingly.
