The petitioners have approached this Court seeking issuance of directions to official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents, who are relatives of petitioner No.1-Preeti Kushwaha.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that parents of both the petitioners had themselves fixed the marriage of the petitioners and pursuant to the same the petitioners started talking with each other on phone and became fond of each other. However, after about 1 year, the parents of petitioner No.1 changed their mind as they wanted to marry of petitioner No.1 to somebody else, who according to them was a better option being employed in government service.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that since petitioner No.1 did not want to marry the boy to which her parents now wanted to marry her PANKAJ KAKKAR 2021.08.17 18:21 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
( 2 ) CRWP-7747-2021 (O&M) and were pressurizing her, she ran away from her house on 5.8.2021 and went to the house of petitioner No.2-Manish Kumar, where with whom she is residing presently. It has been submitted that the petitioners, however, apprehend threat to their life and liberty and that although a representation dated 11.8.2021 (Annexure P-5) was submitted to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar but to no avail. 4.
Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and without commenting as regards the sanctity of alleged relationship of the petitioners, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar to look into the matter and to dispose off the representation dated 11.8.2021 (Annexure P-5) expeditiously in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is a genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners.

A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 11.8.2021 (Annexure P-5) be sent to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously.

It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not be taken to be any expression as regards the alleged relationship of the petitioners and shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
