(ORAL) (The aforesaid presence is being recorded through video conferencing since the proceedings are being conducted in virtual court) By way of moving the present criminal writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the petitioners have sought a writ of mandamus seeking to restrain respondents No.4 to 7, who are all police officials from harassing the petitioners and implicate them in false cases by abusing the process of law.
At the time of hearing, it is fairly conceded that the government of Punjab has constituted the "Police Complaints Authority" to redress the grievances of the general public against the acts and omissions committed by the police officials.
