1. The petitioner seeks issuance of directions to the respondents to protect his live and liberty as well as of other members of his family as he apprehends threat to the same because of remarkable work had been done by the petitioner against the terrorists during the disturbed days of terrorism in State of Punjab.

2. Having heard learned counsel for the petitioner but without commenting anything as regards veracity of averments made in the petition, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3 - Senior Superintendent of Police, Batala, District Gurdaspur to look into the matter and to get the representation dated 26.4.2023 (Annexure P-5) (although PANKAJ KAKKAR 2023.06.02 18:07 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document

CRWP-5547-2023 (O&M) ( 2 ) 2023:PHHC:080906 addressed to The Director General of Police, Punjab Police, Chandigarh) examined qua the alleged threat perception of the petitioner as well as of other members of his family in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is any genuine threat to life and liberty of the petitioner or to other members of his family, then necessary steps as warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioner or to other members of his family.

3. While considering the alleged threat perception of the petitioner as well as of other members of his family, it shall be open to the petitioner to furnish any document/evidence to respondent No.3 as regards his alleged threat perception as well as of other members of his family. Respondent No.3 shall afford an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner while considering his representation.

4.
