The present petition has been instituted under Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as 'BNSS'), seeking appropriate directions to the respondents for the transfer of the petitioner, who is presently confined in Central Jail, Ludhiana, to Central Jail, Ferozepur or any other Central Jail, in order to safeguard the petitioner's life and personal liberty. It is submitted that the petitioner is facing an imminent and serious threat to his safety at the hands of fellow inmates in Central Jail, Ludhiana.

Learned State counsel has filed status report/reply by way of affidavit of Kulwant Singh, Superintendent, Central Jail, Ludhiana on behalf of respondent Nos.2 and 3 in Court today, which is taken on record. According to which, the petitioner has already been transferred from Central Jail, Ludhiana to Central Jail, Kapurthala.
