Through this writ petition, the petitioners pray for issuance of the writ in the nature of mandamus to direct respondent No.2 to take immediate action against the private respondents. 2.

In the complaint of the petitioners, it was alleged that the sand was being illegally mined with the use of JCB, Poclain machine and Tipper by the elected representatives of the Gram Panchayat, Village Khera Gajju, Tehsil Rajpura, District Patiala. The respondent No.4-Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Rajpura, after inquiring into the matter, sent his recommendations to the respondent No.3-District Development and Panchayat Officer, Patiala, which, in turn, was forwarded to the respondent No.2-Director, Rural Development and Panchayat, Punjab. It is alleged that the respondent No.2 has failed to take any action thereon; for the last 10 DEEPAK KUMAR BHARDWAJ 2021.08.23 12:22 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Ms. Sunint Kaur, Assistant Advocate General, Punjab, on instructions from Mr. Sunil Khosla, Legal Consultant, Department of Panchayat, submits that the matter is listed before the respondent No.2Director, Rural Development and Panchayat, Punjab, on 23.08.2021 and she has instructions to make a statement to the effect that the matter shall be disposed of by respondent No.2 within a period of 15 days, positively. 4.

Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, no further order is required to be passed. Hence, the present writ petition is dismissed. However, respondent No.2-Director, Rural Development and Panchayat, Punjab, shall remain bound by the statement.
